Change the Cycle by helping girls get into technology

Code in pink is an initiative to encourage and educate young women to envision a career in the tech industry. As accomplishments in an industry dominated by males are simultaneously increasing the gender gap, the importance and the need for women in tech is rising. We identified that there is an unsupportive culture in the tech industry for women undervaluing their capabilities.

A Unique Social Enterprise

TechBar by Code in Pink is a transformative initiative within our non-profit organization, dedicated to advancing girls' education. We operate as a social enterprise, specializing in a wide range of IT services, including troubleshooting, repair, and upgrades for computers and phones. Our unique space provides a warm and welcoming atmosphere where customers can relax while savoring delicious coffee and cupcakes.

Our exceptional team comprises young girls who directly benefit from our program. We empower them by offering financial support and education in the field of technology and career development.

Our mobile TechBar, equipped with state-of-the-art computer troubleshooting stations, essential supplies, and temporary storage space, travels to various locations within and around the City of Calabasas on a fixed schedule. It serves as a vibrant hub where local foster care girls, volunteers, and customers come together to exchange knowledge and foster a sense of community.

At TechBar, girls gain valuable IT support skills through hands-on experience and by teaching customers or each other. They also enroll in mandatory IT certificate courses, thoughtfully facilitated by third-party STEM education providers.

We take pride in preparing our students for future job opportunities by providing career counseling and guidance. Our goal is for them to enter the technology industry workforce within 6-9 months, effectively breaking the cycle of poverty and paving the way for a brighter future.
